History

Carin' Clinic was created in 1993 by Karen Pramenko and Karen Connor (pictured left to right), two Jefferson County School nurses who found that many of the students they cared for had no health insurance and nowhere to go for health care. They collaborated with the City of Arvada and other community entities to create Carin' Clinic, a not-for-profit clinic for underserved children.

Mission

The mission of Carin' Clinic is to provide affordable high-quality health care services to children between the ages of birth and 18 years from low-income families who have no access or limited access to health care, thus promoting healthy children, healthy families, and a healthy community.

Current Demographics

Carin' Clinic provides primary health care to over 700 children a year, with over 2,000 visits to the clinic every year. We directly fulfill the need in the community for a clinic that provides high-quality health care to low-income, uninsured children and children with Medicaid. We are located in one of the most economically disadvantaged areas in the City of Arvada. Over 80% of the children attending nearby Arvada K-8 School receive free or price-reduced meals due to their family's poverty. Families of students attending the Head Start Program located next to the clinic live at or below federal poverty levels.
